For sensitive music listeners seeking a closer to live experience at home: the open-back
Sennheiser HD600 (~200$ used), particularly for tracks including solo piano, voice, violin, orchestra, rock.
Only caveat: exclusively for home-use, not very portable. -
For anyone interested in getting into more serious photoshooting or backpacking DSLR shooters:
I'm an absolute fan of the Fuji X-series, in particular the Fuji X-T2 (~600$ used) for traveling.
Most of the XF lenses are gems and the best combination depends on your shooting style.
Packed in a Peakdesign Everyday Sling 5L you can carry 4 lenses + body in a super light, compact setup -
If you still want a heavy full-frame for low-light and fast focusing: the Nikon D750 (~900$ used)
has an excellent price-performance ratio.
- D. Oistrakh with Brahms violin concerto, two of my closest musicians of all time
- F.P. Zimmermann with Schumann's violin concerto, because the latter gets so little love for how gorgeous it is
- Steven Isserlis with Schumann's cello concerto
